After a trademark is registered it must be maintained to ensure compliance with certain due dates. Generally, a maintenance affidavit must be filed between the 5th and 6th year after registration to keep the trademark registration active. If the maintenance affidavit is not filed, the registration will be cancelled.
Further, a trademark registration will expire after 10 years. A renewal must be filed prior to expiration if the owner would like to keep the registration active for an additional 10 years. We will also remind you of due dates as they approach.
